The arc of history is long. The city practically burned to the ground 1776 and again in 1835... The city descended into urban decay and a period of rampant lawlessness that lasted decades, only to be reborn again after hitting rock bottom. It has every ability to rise again after voters learn a very hard lesson about the empty promises of and dangers of socialism.
